Hi y'all! I'm Kayla - the Freeway Gypsy. I'm from Jacksonville and I've called Florida home my entire life until my parents and I made the decision to hit the road full-time in our RV in June 2017. We're officially nomads living wherever we want, whenever we want, for as long as we want.
This blog is about our life on the road as a full-time RV family.
You'll find everything here from campground reviews, yummy food spots, and everything in between about life on the road. Traveling is one of my favorite things and I'm on a mission to explore this great American country of ours. I have the ultimate goal of hitting all 50 states by my 30th birthday (July 10, 2020).
I'm a social media professional working full-time on the road. I spend my days working for an awesome company and my nights chilling with the coolest rockstar dog around - Cash the Mini Goldendoodle. I also love food, but I recently discovered I have a gluten sensitivity so now we're on a mission to find really awesome gluten free options around the country.

My favorite things? Oh, where to begin! Where would I be without Disney in my life? My adult life started when I left Jacksonville and went to work for the mouse in 2011. I spent 2 years living in a magical, fantasy world that I fell in love with at a very young age. I'm still obsessed with Disney to this day and would go every day if I could. Who doesn't love taking a walk right down the middle of Main Street USA?
First, I drink the coffee. Then, I do the things. Really, my life consists of watching Gilmore Girls over and over and over again, drinking lots of coffee like a Gilmore, and reading as many books as Rory. I hate that I love Logan Huntzberger. He's such a jerk in his early days, but he also helps Rory come out of her shell and become a braver person. I mean, everyone should live "In Omnia Paratus." Rory reminds me of myself during my high school days, but Lorelai reminds of of myself now so I think I'm a pretty balanced combination of the two. More coffee please.
One of my recent discoveries is a love for rock 'n' roll music - as in Elvis Presley and Johhny Cash type music coming straight out of Memphis and Sun Records. Sure, this probably seems strange for someone in their 20s, but I've always had an old soul and I just love this music. Elvis is my ultimate favorite artist and I could listen to his music all day long. Now that you know that, you probably won't be suprised to learn my sweet mini goldendoodle is named Cash Presley. We call him Cash the Rockstar Mini Goldendoodle and naturally the little Golden Nugget had his own Instagram before he even came home to us.
I love going to rodeos and wearing cowboy boots. I'm a southern girl with a country heart. My momma taught me how to love the rodeo so it's kind of our thing. We love heading to Vegas for the NFR and if bull riding is on tv, you know what station the channel will be on. Favorite part of the rodeo: the respect - the respect everyone has for the cowboys and cowgirls, our country, and each other.
As a southern football-loving girl, I, of course, love SEC football. This Florida Gator has bled Orange and Blue her entire life. I grew up in the best era of Gator Football - I'm talking the 1996 National Championship with Danny Wuerffel (my childhood crush) and the 2006 and 2008 National Championships with Tim Tebow (my highschool crush). As far as the Gators go, we've always been Gator fans and some of my first baby pictures are in a Gator cheerleading outfit, but now, I'm an even prouder fan as a University of Florida Alum. We're huge Florida Softball fans too though and we travel out to Oklahoma City for the Women's College World Series whenever we can. We've been twice so far and both times ended in National Championships.
Another thing passed down to me from my dad is a love of Star Wars. He started playing the movies for me as a baby and then we got the awesome experience of the second trilogy coming out for us while I was in elementary, middle, and highschool. At 8 years old, we stood in line all day to be one of the first people in the movie theatre so we could pick the best seats. This hasn't changed and we still spend all day at the theatre hanging out with other Star Wars fans.
